What Is Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a method of permanently removing unwanted hair by coagulating the hair root or papilla with heat. To do this, a probe that looks like a needle is used to apply heat, which is inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle to destroy one-third of the bottom part of the follicle. This gradually destroys the cells and prevents the follicle from producing hair. Electrolysis is the only way to destroy this vital part of the hair permanently.

Types of Electrolysis

Many different methods of electrolysis exist. They include

  • Short Wave, which uses a single probe.
  • Galvanic, requiring multiple probes.
  • Blend, which combines both methods.

What is Short Wave?

The short wave method is the most preferred approach for removing unwanted hair as it is considered the quickest and the least uncomfortable technique resulting in a high demand from clients. The number of the treatments necessary for removing unwanted hair depends on various factors, such as stages of the hair growth, whether it was stimulated by temporary hair removal and or biological cause of the hair growth. Typically, the average person has several hundred hairs per square inch except the lip, palm of the hand and the sole of the feet. Not all hair comes out at the same time. Each hair goes through three stages of hair growth and the process of the hair growth may take several years, making the treatment process vary from person to person.
